In the realm of very scary faeries, no one is safe. Sixteen-year-old Kaye is a modern nomad. Fierce and independent, she travels from city to city with her mother's rock band until an ominous attack forces the sixteen-year-old back to her childhood home. There, amid the industrial, blue-collar New Jersey backdrop, Kaye soon finds herself an unwilling pawn in an ancient power struggle between two rival faerie kingdoms—a struggle that could very well mean her death. Holly Black's enormously powerful voice weaves teen angst, riveting romance, and capriciously diabolical faerie folk into an enthralling, engaging, altogether original reading experience.

The premise of Why Christians Should Not Tithe is simple: God, having freed his people from the Law through faith in Jesus Christ, does not place on them a burden from the Law. The thesis is equally as simple: Christian giving is not a tithe. Christ challenges the believer to give himself and his possessions to the gospel cause, but the tithe fixes a limit and implies nothing more is needed. Why Christians Should Not Tithe is a thorough discussion of the four tithes in Moses' Law, Jesus' comments on tithing, and the twenty-one principles of giving developed by the apostles' in Acts and the epistles. Included is a brief review of the history of tithing from post-apostolic times to the present. The book concludes with a new paradigm for giving not based on the tithe, but on the apostles' doctrine of Christian giving. Should Christians tithe to support the gospel? Here is a study that will help every Christian discover the biblical answer for him or her self.

This book is an eye opener. It sets you free from the bondage, fear, and condemnation of being cursed with a curse. It sets you free from the limitation of 10 percent. It establishes you on the part, freedom, and wisdom of giving all to God. The New Testament is not a message of 10 percent but 100 percent. Thats why tithe was not preached in the New Testament. Every other thing was taught by the Lord Jesus Christ and the apostles except tithe. The New Testament is a message of sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me (Luke 18:22). Not sell 10 percent that thou hast. The message of tithe cannot be preached in the New Testament. This book is not in any way making you give less to the kingdom of God but to make you give more, even much more and even all. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again (Luke 6:38).

In this book you will discover: The truth about giving as God originally intended it to be; that once you are born-again, you do not need to do anything else to earn the blessing of God; that you do not tithe to be blessed but you tithe because you are blessed; that you do not give to get but you get to give. You will discover the connection between the tithe and the Holy Communion. After reading this book, you will be empowered to give out of freedom as a ministry assignment and to increase the fruits of your righteousness. You will learn how Jesus gave, His views concerning giving and how you can approach giving as He did. This book unveils Jesus as the Tithe, the First-fruits and the Ultimate Offering. Everything you need to know about giving and how to enjoy the blessing of God apart from works is contained in this book.

The tithe today is a most misunderstood topic! Many have relegated it to a thing of the past (as outdated), while others have misunderstood and misapplied its meaning and practice in the church today. This book will attempt to explain the tithe from strictly a New Covenant perspective. For most, who teach in favor of the tithe for today, do so from the Old Testament writings. It is rare to find those who teach the tithe from the New Testament. Many believe the New Testament writings have nothing to say about the tithe, while others apply the tithe today from an Old Covenant Perspective. In this book we will show how the tithe is for today, and a very important part of New Covenant giving. This revelation of the New Covenant tithe is a Pauline revelation. Many see the tithe as only belonging to the Law of Moses. In this book, we will show from the New Testament that the tithe belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ. My hope in writing this book is that those who believe the tithe is not for the New Covenant will come to understand its importance in today's church; and others who apply the tithe to the letter of the law will come to understand the tithe today as operating under faith alone. The tithe is timeless, found in Christ from the foundation of the world, expressed through the faith of Abraham, and immortalized in the Law of Moses: today the tithe has come full circle, from Christ to Abraham, through Moses, and now returning back to Christ. Just as Moses was given the plans of the tabernacle upon the holy mount, God inspired Abraham's faith to tithe the spoils of war. This same tithe was commemorated in the Law of Moses as a shadow of those greater things to come found in the person, life, work, ministry, and passion [death, resurrection, and ascension] of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the tithe according to the revelation of Jesus Christ.

WHERE DO WE BRING OUR TITHE? IN SEARCH OF THE STOREHOUSE STW 4050 by G. Edward Reid answers the following questions from the biblical record and the counsels of the Spirit of Prophecy: Just where is the storehouse today? And even if I knew where it was, do I have to turn in all my tithe there, or can I use my own discretion and return my tithe as I see best? What should I do with my tithe if I sincerely believe that those charged with the responsibility of distributing the tithe are not doing so in a responsible manner? If I know of an independent ministry that is doing good work that I want to support, can I send my tithe to them? Isn't that a gospel ministry?

First published in 1976, this book studies the impact of a uniquely unpopular tax on English rural communities. It examines the tithe system during a period when it was subject to mounting attack from political economists, agricultural improvers and radicals alike. Professor Evans has made extensive use of ecclesiastical and estate records to explain why the tithe issue became so unpopular at this time. He also studies in detail the work of the tithe commission, offering new evidence on the important question of how much the tithe system hindered agricultural improvement. This was in a period of considerable strain for the old village community, when tithe disputes significantly added to existing tensions and, particularly in the south of England, helped bring relations to crisis point.

Was the tithe just for Israel, or is it also applicable to Christians? Must a tithe go only to your local church, or can it be received by any Christian organization? Do we tithe on the net or the gross amount? Perspectives on Tithing presents in point-counterpoint format the most common views about how Christians are to give of their financial resources, addressing the myriad of questions that surround the complex issue. Ken Hemphill (Empowering Kingdom Growth) and Bobby Eklund (Eklund Stewardship Ministries) contribute 'The Foundations of Giving' while the book's editor, David A. Croteau (Liberty University), writes 'The Post-Tithing View: Giving in the New Covenant.' A chapter by Reggie Kidd (Reformed Theological Seminary) is called 'Tithing in the New Covenant? 'Yes' as Principle, 'No' as Casuistry.' Finally, Gary North (Institute for Christian Economics) looks directly at 'The Covenantal Tithe,' and Scott Preissler (Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary) provides the epilogue.

What The Scriptures Say About Tithing will review every passage of scripture (17 of them) that speaks about tithe. After each of the 17 passages of scripture, 15 questions will be asked in order to help give you a clear understanding of the precept of tithe. The first 6 questions are: who was commanded to tithe?; what was (were) the person (people) commanded to tithe?; whom was the tithe for?; why was (were) the person (people) to receive tithes?; what was (were) the person (people) supposed to do with the tithe?; what was (would have been) the result of the person (people) being obedient and tithing? The last 9 questions are: did Jesus tithe?; did Jesus’ disciples / apostles tithe?; did Jesus give His disciples / apostles a commandment to tithe?; did Jesus’ disciples / apostles instruct the Jews, Gentiles, or the church to tithe?; did Jesus receive tithes?; did Jesus’ disciples / apostles receive tithes?; did Jesus command His disciples / apostles to receive tithes?; did Jesus’ disciples / apostles instruct anyone to receive tithes?; did the tithes have anything to do with the giving or receiving of money? When you reach the end of this book, you will have a clear understanding of the precept of tithe.

'Tithing is biblical but not Christian.' So asserts Dr. Stuart Murray in this radical examination of the contemporary practice of tithing in which the author comes to some surprising conclusions. Stuart Murray clearly explains tithing in the Old Testament and in Christian history, but then probes further, asking penetrating questions such as: 'Is tithing Christian?' 'Did Jesus tithe?' 'Does tithing function as a regressive tax, burdening the poor while the rich get richer?' 'Does tithing lead to a legalistic approach that alienates us from Jesus?' The author suspects that a lot of the current lack of interest in the church stems from deep-seated memories of the church as oppressive, uncreative, and money-grabbing. In response we should therefore learn not to calculate percentages but explore creative ways of developing communities of justice and generosity that are good news to the poor. Beyond Tithing will stimulate your thinking and challenge the dominant influence of the practice of tithing as the model for Christian stewardship.

Following a thorough examination of every biblical text on tithing, Dr. Kelly concludes that the church would be best served spiritually by believing and applying better New Testament principles of giving. After discussing sound biblical reasons for Christians to replace tithing, he presents God's better principles of grace. Doctrines such as the New Testament concept of law and covenant and the priesthood of believers are presented as they affect tithing. Following several chapters which discuss disputed texts relating to pastoral support, this book traces the early development of church support as found in the Church Fathers before Nicea. This book leaves no question or objection about tithing unanswered. It is a 'must read' for any serious Bible student. There is a wealth of other doctrinal insights to be gained as one goes through the Bible in search of the truth about tithing.

Many Christians struggle with the issue of tithing. In some churches tithing is over emphasized. At the same time many Christians refuse to submit to the biblical exhortations about making offerings to the Lord. Tithing is intended to be a joy and a blessing. Sadly, that is sometimes not the case in the church today. Not only is this book timely but a welcome treatise for the believer that wants to tap into the heavenly treasures. This book is worth your attention and time.
